Role: Payroll Lead

Location: Kolkata
Experience: 10–12 Years

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end payroll operations for the ANZ region, including pre-payroll, payroll processing, and post-payroll activities.
Manage payroll cycles (Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, and Monthly) while ensuring adherence to defined SLAs.
Perform complex payroll calculations such as Gross-to-Net, arrears, retro pay, tax adjustments, overtime payments, and termination settlements.
Ensure accurate payroll validation, payslip generation, and timely payroll processing with zero overpayments or underpayments.
Maintain compliance with ANZ payroll regulations, tax legislation, superannuation lodgements, and year-end statutory requirements.
Prepare payroll reports, forecasts, tax returns, and management reports for internal stakeholders and government regulatory agencies.
Handle payroll escalations, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and drive preventive process improvements.
Support Hire-to-Retire (H2R) HR transactions, payroll accounting, HR administration, and employee data management.
Lead Due Diligence (DD), Knowledge Transfer (KT), project transition, and ramp-up activities for new payroll engagements.
Develop and maintain FMEA documentation and support Business Excellence initiatives across payroll operations.
Conduct internal system, database, and process audits while ensuring SOX compliance.
Collaborate with business support teams and onshore clients to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Lead, mentor, and upskill payroll team members while monitoring productivity and performance metrics.
Present operational reviews, business updates, and Continuous Improvement Plans (CIP) to clients on a regular basis.

Required Skills

10–12 years of experience in Payroll Operations with exposure to the ANZ region.
Strong hands-on experience in Oracle HCM (Mandatory), Workday, SAP HR, MYOB, and Timekeeping tools.
Excellent understanding of ANZ payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and statutory compliance.
Expertise in end-to-end payroll processing and complex payroll calculations.
Experience in payroll reporting, payroll accounting, and governance.
Knowledge of SOX Audit, compliance controls, and payroll risk management.
Prior experience in Due Diligence (DD), Knowledge Transfer (KT), and process transitions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication with experience interacting directly with onshore clients.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's or Master's degree in any discipline.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.

Preferred Competencies

Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing experience.
Ability to drive Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP).
Experience in process optimization and productivity improvement.
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Willingness to work in a 24×7 rotational environment.
Flexibility to work extended hours during payroll processing and month-end activities.
Ability to conduct training sessions, client meetings, and operational presentations.
