Compliance & Ethics Counsel Specialist – Data Privacy

Location: Mandaluyong, Philippines
Work Setup: Onsite / Hybrid

Role Overview

We are hiring a Compliance & Ethics Counsel Specialist – Data Privacy to support privacy reviews and the implementation of a global data privacy program.

The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel, conduct privacy assessments, support data subject rights and regulatory inquiries, monitor legal developments, and contribute to privacy processes, training, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, review, and improve compliance processes and templates for data privacy requirements.
Coordinate with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide guidance on privacy-related approaches.
Manage new privacy initiatives and support process improvement projects.
Conduct privacy reviews, country risk assessments, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
Support M&A/ventures and acquisitions due diligence and policy administration where required.
Draft, review, and support negotiation of data privacy schedules and contractual provisions.
Monitor global data privacy laws, regulatory changes, and emerging trends.
Analyze regulatory developments and prepare internal guidance, communications, and training materials.
Support data subject access and individual rights requests.
Research privacy regulations and provide legal and compliance guidance.
Develop and deliver data privacy training for Legal and business teams.
Support senior Data Privacy Counsel on operational and advisory matters.
Act as first-level support for data privacy inquiries and escalate complex issues appropriately.

Required Qualifications

Law degree.
3–4 years of experience in data privacy.
Understanding of global data privacy regulatory principles.
Experience conducting privacy assessments, risk assessments, privacy reviews, and/or DPIAs.
Experience with data privacy contractual provisions and schedules.
Strong legal research and analytical skills, including familiarity with GenAI tools.
Excellent English communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong stakeholder-management skills, including interaction with senior leadership.
Ability to design process flows and metrics.
Strong judgment and ability to identify, assess, and escalate risks.
Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Power BI knowledge is an advantage.

Preferred

IAPP certification such as CIPP/E or a similar privacy certification.
Experience supporting M&A/ventures and acquisitions due diligence.
Experience with policy administration and privacy training.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Currently be based in the Philippines.
Have the legal right to live and work in the Philippines.
Be willing to work onsite/hybrid in Mandaluyong on a shifting schedule.
