Job Role
Tech Mahindra is seeking **Interpretation Support Associates** fluent in **Mandarin/Cantonese and English** to join our healthcare interpretation process. This role is critical in bridging communication between healthcare professionals in the United States and patients who require language support.
As an interpreter, you will provide **real-time, consecutive over-the-phone interpretation**, ensuring accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in sensitive healthcare conversations. This position requires strong bilingual fluency, active listening, confidentiality, and the ability to remain composed during urgent or emotionally sensitive calls.
Position Details
- **Designation:** Associate – Interpretation Support
- **Language Requirement:** Mandarin/Cantonese and English
- **Experience Required:** 0–5 years
- **Industry/Process:** Healthcare / Interpretation / BPO / Customer Support
- **Work Location:** Remote (Work From Home)
- **Schedule:** Monday to Friday (5 days per week)
- **Weekly Off:** Saturday & Sunday
- **Shift:** Permanent Night Shift
- **Shift Timings:** 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM / 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- **Shift Allowance:** RM 25 per night
- **Contract:** 6 months + renewable 12-month extension
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver **accurate, meaning-for-meaning interpretation** between English-speaking healthcare providers and Mandarin/Cantonese-speaking patients.
- Interpret conversations in healthcare contexts, including medical consultations, patient concerns, insurance queries, and emergency situations.
- Maintain **first-person interpretation style** to ensure natural communication.
- Handle sensitive calls with professionalism, correct tone, and clarity.
- Adhere to interpreter protocols, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Remain neutral and avoid personal opinions or advice.
- Manage urgent or emotionally charged calls calmly.
- Build strong knowledge of healthcare terminology and industry-specific language.
- Participate in training, coaching, and quality reviews.
- Ensure reliable attendance, schedule adherence, and compliance with privacy regulations.
Required skills and competencies
Language Skills
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese
- Advanced English proficiency (B2+/C1 preferred)
- Strong speaking, listening, reading, and comprehension skills
- Ability to understand cultural nuances and maintain clear pronunciation

Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum education: High School Graduate, SPM, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree
- Freshers and experienced candidates welcome
- Prior experience in interpretation, translation, healthcare, customer service, BPO, media, or journalism preferred
- Must be fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese and English
- Comfortable with permanent night shifts
- Stable internet connection required for remote work
Compensation & Benefits
-Basic Salary:** RM 4,000 – RM 4,500
Negotiable Salary:** Up to RM 5,000 (based on profile and experience)
Wi-Fi Allowance:** RM 150 per month
Night Shift Allowance:** RM 25 per night (approx. RM 550 monthly based on 22 working days)
Performance Incentives: Based on quality and productivity
Total Package:** RM 5,000+ monthly
