Compliance & Ethics Counsel Specialist – Data Privacy

Location: Mandaluyong City, Philippines

Work Setup: Onsite / Hybrid

Schedule: Shifting Schedule

Are you a legal professional with strong data privacy experience who enjoys translating complex regulations into practical business solutions?

We are looking for a Compliance & Ethics Counsel Specialist – Data Privacy to support the implementation and continuous improvement of a global data privacy program.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Legal teams, business stakeholders, senior leadership, internal functions, and external counsel while handling privacy assessments, regulatory research, contractual privacy matters, data subject rights, compliance initiatives, and process improvements.

What You’ll Do

- Draft, develop, align, and continuously improve data privacy compliance processes, templates, and supporting documentation.

- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business and process requirements and provide practical privacy guidance.

- Lead or coordinate new privacy initiatives and process improvement projects.

- Conduct data privacy assessments, including country risk assessments, privacy reviews, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

- Support venture and acquisition due diligence activities and privacy policy administration.

- Review and support the drafting and negotiation of data privacy schedules and contractual privacy provisions.

- Monitor changes in privacy laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and global privacy trends.

- Assess the potential impact of regulatory developments on business operations and prepare appropriate internal guidance.

- Develop communications, training materials, and internal support documents relating to data privacy.

- Support responses to data subject access requests and other individual rights requests in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

- Apply company policies and privacy requirements to business operations while identifying potential regulatory and data privacy risks.

- Develop and deliver data privacy training for Legal, business teams, and other relevant stakeholders.

- Support senior Data Privacy Counsel on operational, advisory, and compliance matters.

- Serve as a Tier 1 point of contact for data privacy inquiries, providing initial guidance and escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately.

- Work collaboratively across Compliance, Operations, Regulatory, and Ethics (CORE) areas.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications

- Law Degree.

- 3–4 years of relevant Data Privacy experience.

- Strong understanding of global data privacy regulatory principles.

- Hands-on experience conducting:

- Privacy reviews

- Local country privacy risk assessments

- Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)

- Experience reviewing, drafting, and supporting negotiations involving data privacy contractual provisions/schedules.

- Strong legal research and regulatory analysis skills.

- Excellent written and spoken English, including strong presentation and communication skills.

- Proven stakeholder management experience, including engagement with senior leadership.

- Ability to design and understand process flows, controls, and performance metrics.

- Strong judgment when identifying privacy risks, applying policies, and determining appropriate escalation.

- Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

The following are advantageous but not mandatory:

- IAPP certification, such as CIPP/E or a similar privacy certification.

- Experience supporting M&A/venture and acquisition due diligence.

- Experience in policy administration.

- Knowledge of Power BI.

- Experience using GenAI tools for legal research and analysis.

- Advanced experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

- Experience working within a global or multinational legal/privacy environment.
